| Hey guys I hope everyone's doing well. So im here againg to update you guys on whats been going on with my life. Ok so lets see last week, on Friday we had a small class trip to Haydrans Villa (Villa d'Adrian) and it was alright, Some of its gardens were nice, others didn't looks so stunning since it was probably dead due to the cold weather. but still some the structures were awesome. I really liked this fountian that had a kind of umbrella shaped ceiling that looked neat. So yea, we were for quite a while. we also had to do a drawing and blah. so we arrived home like at around 6pm and I just chilled here and then went to the hotel and packed.for an awesome trip! Next morning, I woke up at 6:30, got all my things, made sure I had everything and headed outside where I met up with Andrea, Nick and Tiff. We then put our stuff in the taxi and headed to the airport! We got there, looked for out check in stand, found it, got our tickets and headed to the gate. it was so surreal. It didn't even hit me that i was going to travel, or get on a plane, it just felt like a norm or somthing :S, I got through security, waited for the bus to take us to the plane, got on the plane, listened to the flight attendants do the safety exit routine and before I knew it we were taking off. I didn't get to comprehend all of that. I was just talking with Andrea the whole time, that when we felt the jolt from the plane during take off , we were...oh shit we're already leaving. It was so awesome. But yea we got in air and it was sweet!.So as we were getting closer to our destination we looked outside, and SNOW! :D YAY! I've missed snow so much. I love it!. We saw everything covered on the ground from the plane. So we finally landed and we were so excited! We got off the plane and headed to the airports door!. :D IT was so awesome just seeing the large letters "Frankfurt Hahn Airport and Willkommen"! :D Thats right we went to GERMANY! :D it was so freaking beautiful. I loved it...Forever! Oh and it was snowing :D haha so I got a quick snowball and threw it to Nick! PWNed nah it was little cuz i had no gloves and it was cold. ha So we entered the airport, got lunch and went to our bus stop to get on the bus to Mainz Germany. The bus was like an hour long trip and when we got there we had to get to our train which was in the same Station the bus dropped us off. So we got on the train and another hour long trip. We then finally arrived to our destination Heidelberg, Germany. ZOMG it looked like present day America. None of this Italian stuff. It was so freaking awesome seeing some more modern buildings and use of glass and metal! :D I loved it! So then from the train station we decided to walk to our hostel to see more things on the way and go to shops and stuff. So on the way over there we saw a MALL! :D woot something we havent seen in a long time. Rome has a mall thats like an hour away from us by bus. So its not that tempting. Anyways we didn't go in since we had our bags, so we kept walking. Then as we walked to through the main street of the town. BANG! H&M sign just pops up!. Woo, we were so excited a lot of awesome stores started appearing. then to my surprise... STARBUCKS!. We all went Ape-Shit! and ran in without even asking if we wanted to go. We all just rushed in and Ordered! :D White Choclate Mocca bitten(please) ehhh check out my German! haha. So yea it was awesome, having Starbucks in the cold outside. :D felt like home. Loved it! So yea we kept walking and all of a sudden SUBWAY! :D Now it was really looking like Home :D awww only we didn't go in just yet. We kept walking looking at all the stores and things we could buy and what not. PIZZA HUT! poped out and ZOMG we were really EXCITED! it felt so awesome seeing things back from the states :) it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. I miss stuff from home oh well family and friends too haha but ahhh it was so awesome seeing these things again. Ok so we finally made it to our hostel where we checked in and well the rooming situation was kind of weird. Our roommates in the hostel were 4 guys and a girl, 3 from munich the other guy and girl we didn't talk to them, we just said hi. haha but the guys from Munich were kool. but the way the rooming worked was that we had to go through a bedroom of 6 people to get to our room. It was weird but hey at least we had our little room separated with a door. So we left our stuff and headed out to the night life of town. We go to shops, buy stuff, i went to H&M bought a shirt and hoody, then we went have dinner at this German restaurant and it was really good. After that we kept walking and shoping. Then after stores started closing, we started looking for a bar. There were several bars but many looked kind of shady and sketchy while others were packed. So we finally found this Irish pub and went in. It was really kool and we saw that they had Notre Dame stuff! :D haha so that was kool. So we started talking and having some drinks it was pretty awesome, just chilling having deep conversations. After a while, our roommates the three from Munich happened to walk in and they sat next to us. So then we started talking with them and it was pretty kool. So we saw them playing cards, and well we thought of playing a card game, so we ended up playing kings with them. It was pretty funny because we were trying to explain the rules. We would tell them in english while one of them would translate. Also Andrea and Nick spoke German so they would translate too. but we finally got it up and running and started playing. It was so much fun they were freaking crazy. We had a good time and everyone was loving it. After we finished playing, we started playing BullShit. that was funny since one guy was bullshitting all the time and couldn't lie to save his life. So then we finally get tired and head back to the hostel. We get a kebop on the way, it was freaking good. We arrive to the hostel and we joke about the hostel and the sheets and everything. it was pretty funny and we finally went to sleep. The next morning, we wake up, get ready, put our jackets on and head on out. We stopped at this pastry shop, had a quick breakfast and headed to the castel on the mountain. It looked so kool just soaring over the town like that. So we went in, looked around saw some pretty interesting things, this HUGE BARREL! some german renaissance and medieval architecture. So after that we decided to go to the this bridge and Garden that story says inspired several Poets and philosphers while there. So we went to both to find some inspiration! :P The bridge was really cool only it was under renovation and there was a lot of scaffeling. So then we headed to the garden and it was a long way up. It took us a while to get there haha cuz the pathway to it was really steep. And then it was really cold since we were heading up the hill/mountain. but we got there and the view was awesome. So then went to go eat lunch at this german restaurant and It was good. after that we walked a bit, my friends got a pastry at some little coffee shop, but Nick and I went to Starbucks :D haha. So we then continue to walk and start heading back to the trainstation. We get there and the rest of the trip sucked going back. this is going to be really fast b/c im tired of typing and i want to stop. so ok, we arrive at trainstation in Heidelberg, train comes in late, get on, arrive at Mainz, figure out that we have missed the bus too frankfurt because of our train delay. So now we're running late. Well while we're there waiting for the next bus which was coming in an hour and a half, it started snowing. And it was snowing hard. Soooo....an hour and a half later the BUS doesn't come. So we're freaking out. :S. By now we have missed our plane in Frankfurt so we were pissed. So then we had to find a way to get to the airport so that we can ask for a flight change. But the third bus didn't show up either and we figured it was becase of the snow. So while we were there we saw this couple maybe mid 40's that were waiting for the busses too. So we decided to approach them and to our surprise, they spoke Italian and were heading to Rome too. So we decided to join together and grab a taxi back to Frankfurt. We arrived there, realized we couldn't do anything for our old flight, so we had to buy a new ticket. That sucked, our flight was suppose to be at 8, we arrived at the airport at 10:30. And the next flight was at 6:30 in the morning. We ended up sleeping in the Airport all night until we started checking in. We went through security, got on plane, slept all of the plane ride (2 hours) arrived, got a taxi from Airport to our Hotel, (hour and a half ride due to traffic) finally got hope at 9:30 slept woke up late for my class at 2:40, class started at 1 but luckily the prof was in a good mood and didn't tell me anything. then the day was LONG AS HELL, i was so tired and out of it. But I was glad the trip was awesome and that we Finally made it home! Oh yea the reason for the title being in 4 languages was because while in Germany or at the airports, when we saw creepy people, we kept changing languages between us so that they wouldn't understand us. HAHA yea we're sneaky. but it was funny changing between them. German, Italian, Spanish and English. Even though Tiff and I didn't know a whole lot of german it was still fun learning it on the trip. :D and Spanish was only between me and Andrea. So that was kool too So yea hope you're all doing well and having fun. bye! | | |
| Hey guys, just here I figured i should do a quick recap of all the stuff ive done since the last blog. Ok so I went for a week to the Veneto area and it was awesome. this was now some time back but im just putting this up. So we went to Bologna, Mantoval, Parma, Verona, Vicenza, and Venezia. All of them were freaking awesome. Bologna with its infinite arcades, Mantoval with the awesome huge dome and my favorite palazzo, Palazzo dei Te. Parma, small town, with a pretty villa, Verona, an awesome city with beautiful buildings, Vicenza with the Rotunda, beautiful, and then Venezia, the greatest City of all time, should be called Atlantis since theres so much water. I loved it, it was so different, the life there was just amazing, of course a whole lot toursism that kind of ruined it but oh well. During Bologna it was my friend Nicole's birthday and we partied it up in a mexican restaurant. it was good. So yeah that trip was awesome, that was our last long trip for this semester and was just the best. So yea upon returning, that same week, we had a paper, 2 exams, and a project due. it was crazy. The professors wanted to kill us all. But luckily i got through all of it and it went well. maybe like 2 weeks ago, we went to this other town called Bagnaia and it was just awesome, its speciality was this beautiful garden that was just WOW! I loved it, the way the landscaping was designed and everything the way the architect used the water, the flow from garden to garden, the natural use of the space. it was just amazing. that was another trip we did and i loved it. I think that is all I can remember that i really enjoyed since the last update. probably more stuff too, but i can't remember since i have a lot on my mind and blah. Hopefully this week goes by well. i have to write a paper for theo, project for Arch history, drawing for Graphics, and revision of my Project for Studio. So I hope it all goes well. OH yea for Urbanism, this last week I had the class twice this week and it was painful but intersting. we usually always have the class once a week, thursday, from 9 to 12. but this week, we had one rescheduled and we had it tuesday from 12 to 4 and then thursday from 9 to 12 ahhhh i couldn't stand taking in so much information about one place. So tuesday we went to the colleseum and I loved it. IT was awesome. I felt like gladiator and wanted to battle. Ha jk but it was still freaking awesome. then on thursday we went to Palatine hill and that was so beautiful too, only while we were there, it started pouring on us cats and dogs and was just crazy. the thunder and lightning was awesome though. So we had to walk back home in the rain for a 20 minute walk >.> but oh well. I miss you guys, I'm listening to really loud music right now and its like a bunch of songs that i use to hear with my peeps in my truck blasting through the streets of Laredo :D haha awww miss ya guys, and the peeps from Austin HO'D UP! hahaha, hope you guys are doing well and that finals don't lead to any fatalities. ALA all dramatic. nah jk talk to you all later. Good luck! | | |
| Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing great in school, at home, with your friends and family. Sorry I haven’t been able to keep in touch with a lot of you and for spending little time talking with you when I do. I have just been busy up the “wazoo” with this upcoming project and the current one. But oh well. So this weekend, we had our day trip cancelled, and well a couple of us thought it would be nice to go out for the weekend and spend it traveling. We decided on it and left for the Capri region. Friday early morning, 6 am woke up, took the bus to the train station terminal, and left for Naples (shadiest city in Italy) known for its high pick-pocketers but we took our chances and came out on top. So we arrived in Naples, got on the train for Sorrento. We tried to stay as little time possible in Naples. So about an hour later we finally arrived to Sorrento and the fun started. We took some time trying to figure out where we were, and whatever. We looked around, walked for several hours, then had lunch and this nice restaurant, found a small beach and got in the water. Water = cold and salty but it was still nice and relaxing to finally have a weekend off. So we were there chilling, just swimming around, and then we started playing in the sand, writing messages to people up on the cliff, and building aqueducts and arches…(what do arkies do on their vacation? They build architectural elements) So yea, after that, we changed and headed to the ferry station. Bought our tickets and boarded the ship. We then headed to Capri. It was so kool riding the boat and just bouncing on the waves. We arrived to Capri, and we decided to go to our hotel. We needed to get on a bus for Anacapri so we went and did that and finally arrived to our hotel, where this nice lady greeted us and even gave us a ride to this restaurant nearby for dinner. It was really good, and I finally tried fried Muscles. It was weird and salty but not bad at all. Never again though… the texture was weird. Next day, after a 30 minute walk, we went to the “blue grotto” which was freaking amazing. Uhhh I loved it, it was just to awesome. Its this cave under the water, that you go in by a small boat, and like sunlight reflects under the rocks and makes the water glow this badass blue color. After that we went on another boat which took us around the Island and it was so freaking amazing. There was a lot of caves, and badass sites on the islands. I took several pictures, of course, and was going crazy with my (new) camera. For those of you who didn’t know, my other camera broke >.> and I had to buy another. Anyways so yea we did that, and went to the town center area. We were at the bottom of the town and well we found this pathway that had the sign (centro >) with an arrow so we followed it…BIG MISTAKE! It was all steep uphill with hardcore stairs and ZOMG I think I lost like 10 pounds theres 30 minutes later of uphill power walking! We finally made it to the top. NEVER again would we take that route. So we were here in the downtown, a lot of nice stores and shops and a lot of neat stuff. Then we got to this area where we felt completely out of place….(signs flashing) [Versace, Prada, United Colors, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana…you get the picture. We were in the high class part of town. Which made sense when most of the people had high class clothing and whatnot. We were like….oooh yea, umm no lets get out of here. So then headed to another beach. This beach however was hardcore painful. Instead of being sand, there were rocks, and it hurt like hell when you would step on them. So As I was getting into the water, the cold water was inferior to the rocks, as the rocks just penetrated through the soles of my feet…..wow that sounded kind of poetic don’t you think? So yea I got in the water as fast as I could to start floating rather than stand on the rocks. Oh and also there was coral that cut my friend’s toe, but he was alright. So yea it was an ok beach, nice and calm, just the rock part sucked. So then that night we went back to the hotel, showered, and went out. We bought limoncello this lemon flavored alcohol and it was so good then went to the downtown area of Capri to look for some clubs or bars. All the ones we found were INCREDIBLY expensive. 30 Euro cover charge….we were like WTF so we just walked around. HA. Next morning packed, got breakfast, headed to the downtown area, chilled, went to the Villa de Montecello, was freaking amazing, and headed to the Faro (lighthouse) beach. We didn’t get in this time though cuz it was packed but we still chilled and enjoyed our drinks there. So yea after that we headed to the ferry station, headed to Naples, got on a train there to ROME, and finally arrived home WOOT! IT was so freaking awesome I loved it. Only now we have shit loads of Work to do, and that I have to catch up to. BLAH Well I hope you all enjoyed and that you’re all doing well. Talk to you all later. | | |
| Well im back from our week trip to Tuscany and Umbria. It was really nice to get away from the crazy-ness of Rome but at the same time it was just as hectic and crazy. A lot has happened, I've been deprived from the internet for far too long. Darn you hotels sans internet! Over-priced internet hotels, and just plain wretched hotels. As you can tell some hotels weren't that great but anyways, so lets see, quick recap of the week. First went to Orvieto, nice place it has an awesome view from the top, a cool lifty thingy. The duomo is amazing there, and freaking huge The detail on the facade is incredible and its interior is intense. We also went under the city into the old tuscan caves and we saw some pretty intersting things. Only it was kind of uneasy when we realized the entire city was over thousands of these caves. :S After that we left to Citta Di Castello a small town, and we stayed in the hotel. Next day we left for Perugia. Could've been a good trip if it wasn't for the tragedy that i suffered :(... Flashy died aka my camera. yes he fell, would not turn off, so i took off the batteries, never turned on again. I was pissed, depressed, annoyed and every other hateful feeling. So i didn't get to take that many pictures here, but the city was beautiful, had amazing hot choclate, tuscan ruins as well, a beautiful palazzo with fountain, and some good wraps. So yea, right before i we left, I went to buy a new camera. Boy was that a kick in the ass when i realized how much i had actually spent. It was 169€ so i was like oh thats not that bad. But when I checked the next day how much it was in american money, it came out to 250$ >.> that put a damper on my wallet. but oh well, I could not go the rest of the trip without my camera. It was barely the second day of the trip. So i bought that, then we left back to Citta di Castello's Hotel. The next day we "rome-ed" (cue drum set) around Citta di Castello, and visited the church that was there, along with the piazzas that were around the area. We didn't really do that much here because it was a small town, but the town had a lot to offer. Like great american food :D French fries, mozzorella sticks, onion rings WOOT so yea, that was great and like the shops around here were kool too. The nightlife in the town was also kool. After finishing our assignment in Citta... we loaded the busses and departed for Gubbio. aww i really like this small town because it was mostly up hills, and a lot of going up stairs and steep walk ways. The city was so cute because even though it was a small town, the fact that it was on high hills just made it feel grand. :D The palazzo here were amazing, the churches were awesome, the people were awesome and everything was fun. It had awesome high towers, beautiful gardens and cute kittens :D After this we went back to Citta... Next morning, we packed everything up, loaded busses, and headed to Montepulciano, this town also had its amazing characteristics. It was also on a high hill, had grand palazzos that soared over the city and everything. It had amazing churches and also up-hill walkways. A lot of them, but once at the top it was all worth it. There was this awesome palazzo at the top of the hill that we got to go up to the roof and we could see landscape throughout tuscany. It was awesome. So many hills, mountains, and volcanos it was sweet. Ooh also on one of the towns towers, instead of having a bell just swinging to ring, it had an statue of a man made of iron ringing the bell. he would swing at hit the bell. it was funny. although the city is amazing and has the high palazzo, thats not whats its well known for. Well besides its greatest tasting wine, Its known for the Duomo of San Biagio. This greek shaped basilica was awesome and so beautiful from the inside. Although it wasn't finished (it was missing a tower) it still looks amazing. Oh yea its quite a walk though from the city >.> took forever to get there. but totally worth it. Ok so we finished our assignments and headed to Siena Wow Siena was amazing, i think this was one of my favorite cities that we visisted. ZOMG piazza del campo was so freaking amazing, and the palazzo was so uplifting and blah, I loved it. We layed out on the campo and just chilled as the tuscan sun bathed/baked us. It was so awesome and relaxing. The gelato was great too. The city full of life at night and so many places to see. So many shops at every corner and ahhh it was great. We went into the palazzo and had a tour of it from the inside. we also went into the musem which show several stuff about Siena in old times before it was taken over by Firenze (Florence) and the medieval architecture. We also got to see some ancient baths and pools, that water was still being pour out of from the aqueducts. only they weren't in use anymore, except by the pigeons <.< So we stayed here for the night. For dinner we went out to eat, but got lost on the way back and like walked around the entire city...Literally AROUND, and finally found the hotel, but it was an adventure, going to swirving roads over cliffs with no sidewalks. it was heart pumping, knowing that at any moment, some speeding guy coming out of the corner of the hill can come out and hit you....O.o WTF haha (disregard) So yea the next day we stayed in Siena and did most of the touring this day, along with our assignments. But it was still awesome. Day after that, we headed to Firenze, Wow it was so awesome! The view of the Basilica from far away was just heart warming :) It felt so awesome to actually be there seeing this building we had learned in our previous classes in history. It was such a rewarding feeling. Florence was awesome, also so much to see and do there. We got to see the replica of David's Statue, the real one had long lines so we didn't get to go in, but we saw the next best thing. We also went into the palazzo where we saw a lot of awesome stuff about the history of Florence. We went into a huge museum with different statues everywhere, we went to the cathedral that Michaelangelo was burried in, where they kept a sarcophagus for Dante, and that was freaking awesome. I loved that!!! Whoooo! So yea it was all very fun here. We must go back though to finish exploring. So then finally after finishing Florence, we went to Pienza to work on our 3rd project. Thats how we role, we go for a week to several cities, enjoy bits and pieces, then save the last 2 days to work and analyze the city. BOO so yea that was kind of lame that our last day our so called trip was for work. We're still working on our second project and when i say working i mean, we got it 2 days before leaving, yet we got our third project on the trip >.> such a bummer. so yea we're simultaneously working on 2 projects and it sucks. Pienza is a nice town, its small but has some pretty awesome sites. I liked it, and today was just freaking amazing the way the weather was. It was so pretty. So yea today we were in Pienza, and we finally got back home at 9pm, and i've watched DHW, the intro to Heroes, and still waiting to see Grey's. blah it sucks that stupid sites don't work out of US. boo. but oh well. I'll talk to you all later bye miss you guys Victor | | |
